A Conference on Human rights in Film” at the 13th Ethiopian International Film Festival (ETHIOIFF)

The Netherland Embassy, once again, takes pride in being one of the partners of the Ethiopian International Film Festival (ETHIOIFF). The parrtnership we established with the Netherland Embassy is growing, not only in size but also in significance. At the same time it is only getting started to bring the new spirit that marks a high level of partnership between the Netherlands Embassy and the Ethiopian International Film Festival. We are very proud to announce that Ethiopian International Film festival (ETHIOIFF), in partnership with The Netherland Embassy, organizes the 2nd edition of “The Netherlands Embassy Presents:  A Conference on Human rights in Film” at the 13th Ethiopian International Film Festival (ETHIOIFF).

The program will consists of film screenings combined with panel discussions with audience and filmmakers around key aspects of the human right issues, including challenges and accomplishments, ways forward to be more effective in approaching such as human right issues.

We at the festival are very excited with the ongoing support of the Netherlands Embassy presenting such valuable contribution to help us promote socially responsible films and the two countries cross-cultural relationship.

synopsis

It's a saga of an illiterate illegal brewer- an Indian gypsy Woman- who is outlawed from her house and hamlet by her husband Allegedly for adultery when she is already nine months pregnant... Will she survive this stroke? Will she commit suicide? Is she Innocent? Will she be able to prove her innocence?

We are very proud to announce the successful completion of a month long tour program that has taken place in March 2019 at four different cities of Ethiopian regions, Adama, Hawassa, Bahir Dar & Diredawa.

It was organized under the title “Ethio-fest in the Field” tour of peace program and held on the weekly basis divided in four rounds, every weekend in each location.  The program embarked on its first tour around the country, with selected international and Ethiopian films to exhibit general excellence in filmmaking, explore a broad spectrum of human rights issue and give Ethiopians access to quality cinema as well as opportunities to meet and talk with filmmakers around key aspects of the films and human right issues.

Over the course of month long tour there were a total of twelve local and international films in diverse forms including fiction, documentary, and shorts, with the content of human right, social responsibility, justice freedom migration, and gender. Each screenings with their Q&A sessions afterward was free and open to the public and targeted a relatively broad audience.

በይርጋሸዋ ተሸመ (የኢትዮጵያ ኢንተርናሽናል ፊልም ፌስቲቫል ይሬክተር) የተጻፈውና A Film History in Ethiopia; from Grand Palace to ETHIOFFEST” የተሰኘው እንሊዘገኛ መጽሀፍ ታትሞ ለዓለም ዐዓቀፍ ገበያ ይፋ ሆነ፡፡

መጽሀፉ በሁለት ዋናዋና ምዕራፎች የተከፈለ ሲሆን የመጀመሪያው ክፍል ከቀዳማዊ ምኒልክ የንግስና ዘመን ጀምሮ እስካሁኑ መንግስት ድረስ ያለውን የፊልም ታሪክ የሚዳስስ ሲሆን፤ሁለተኛው ክፍል ደግሞ የኢትዮጵያ ኢንተርናሽናል ፊልም ፌስቲቫል ከተመሰረተበት ከ1997 ዓ.ም ጀምሮ እስካለንበት ድረስ ያለውን የፊልም እንቅስቃሴ የሚያስቃኝ ነው፡፡ መጽሀፉ በዘርፉ የተሰማሩ ተመራማሪዎችን የፈተነ በርካታ ታሪካዊ እውነታዎችን ያወጣ ሲሆን በዚህም ምክንያት በዚህ ርእሰ-ጉዳይ በኢትዮጵያዊ የተጻፈ የመጀመሪያው መጽሃፍ እንዲሆን አስችሎታል፡፡ 

መጽሀፉን ያሳተመው መቀመጫውን አውሮፓ ያደረገው LAP publishing የተሰገኘው ዓለም ዓቀፍ ድርጅት ነው፡፡
